Kournikova is a well-known baseliner in singles who plays the ball quickly and fluidly around the court. She played with a lot of power and used deep groundstrokes. Kournikova was born in Moscow as both of her parents played professional tennis. Sergei Kournikov, her dad was a champion wrestler and her mother, Alla Kournikov, was an athlete. She was among the youngest player to compete for the Fed Cup ever and won it for Russia. She played in the U.S Open at 15 years old and reached at the Wimbledon semi-finals at 16 years old. However, she had to retire from professional tennis when she turned 21 because of severe back problems.
